MISSION: The mission of the Food Safety Program is to minimize the risk of the spread of disease from improperly prepared, stored or served
foods handled in commercial retail settings and community events.

Operational Plan for 2018
Food Program activities will continue in the same manner and frequency as 2017. 1.35 FTE’s are allocated for 2018 which includes three
Environmental Health Specialist, one full time, the others part time. The Environmental Health Director has provided staff with clear assignments
and priorities going forward for the Food Program. The goal is to provide improved customer service and reduce staff workload expectations to a
more reasonable level.
Assignments
Mina: Primary for all tasks except Cat 1 routines.
Dorian: Primary for Category 1 routines, supports temporary inspections
Roger: Supports temporary inspections and plan reviews.

Priorities
1. Food borne illness complaints and investigations (Mina contacts complainant within 1 working day, and conducts site visit within 3 working
days. Roger is back up if Mina is out of the office for one day or longer)
2. Temporary event processing and inspection (Temporary inspector of the week initiates review within 2 working days of receiving a complete
application.)
3. Plan reviews (Mina initiates plan review within 3 working days of receiving complete application. Roger is back up when Mina is out of the
office for more than 3 days)
4. Routine inspections
5. Public complaints not alleging illness (Dorian contacts complainant within 2 working days, and conducts site visit within 6 working days,
unless a routine is already planned by either Mina or Roger)
