HomeMy WebLinkAbout032618_ca11Consent Agenda JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS To: Board of County Commissioners Philip Morley, County Administrator From: Patty Charnas, DCD Directorl Date: March 26, 2018 Subject: Planning Commission District 2 and 3 re -appointments STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The nine -member Jefferson County Planning Commission has two positions that expired on March 17, 2018; Lorna Smith of District 2 and Tom Giske of District 3. These two members have applied to continue serving for a new full term. The Department of Community Development recommends that these two members be reappointed. ANALYSIS The Board of County Commissioners (Board) has established a "Planning Agency" comprised of the Department of Community Development (DCD) and the Planning Commission. Pursuant to the originating action (Resolution #54-97), the Commission is to assist DCD in carrying out its duties by engaging the public in the preparation and review of comprehensive plans and development regulations. Recommendations made by the Planning Commission are forwarded to the Board on matters before the Board. These positions were advertised in the newspaper of record, PT Leader, on March 7, 2018 and again on March 14th, as well as posted on the Jefferson County website in March of 2018. No responses were received during the advertisement period. FISCAL IMPACT/COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS: There is no fiscal impact to the County's General Fund for appointing a member to serve on the Planning Commission. RECOMMENDATION: Reappoint Planning Commission member representatives on the Planning Commission board to serve a four-year term ending on March 17, 2022: Lorna Smith of District 2 and Tom Giske of District 3.
