ANALYSIS
The Board of County Commissioners (Board) has established a "Planning Agency" comprised of the
Department of Community Development (DCD) and the Planning Commission. Pursuant to the
originating action (Resolution #54-97), the Commission is to assist DCD in carrying out its duties by
engaging the public in the preparation and review of comprehensive plans and development
regulations. Recommendations made by the Planning Commission are forwarded to the Board on
matters before the Board.
These positions were advertised in the newspaper of record, PT Leader, on March 7, 2018 and again
on March 14th, as well as posted on the Jefferson County website in March of 2018. No responses
were received during the advertisement period.
FISCAL IMPACT/COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
There is no fiscal impact to the County's General Fund for appointing a member to serve on
the Planning Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
Reappoint Planning Commission member representatives on the Planning Commission board to
serve a four-year term ending on March 17, 2022: Lorna Smith of District 2 and Tom Giske of District
