Provides a variety of complex duties assisting management and other staff requiring the use of design, graphics, publishing, editing, and technical skills. This position does not generally serve as the primary authority for decisions regarding web page content, but exercises considerable independence and technical control over work product. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following. Coordinates with other departments and program managers on the implementation of varied web products to meet goals and objectives of the county and/or department. Develops, in consultation with other staff, communication strategies and/or creative approaches for department. Develops, designs and delivers web site presence as it relates to services, projects, events, educational classes, applications, content/resources, etc. for internet/intranet sites. Documents, tests, implements and maintains web pages and multimedia design using appropriate web publishing, editing and graphics applications. Create monthly report to track web site activity. Maintains technical expertise in web design tools and acts as technical resource for software in field of expertise. Maintains content integrity. Monitors sites for out-of-date, obsolete, conflicting or missing content, and broken/misdirected links. Creates content for posting to social media platforms. Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of online campaigns and surveys in an effort to maximize results. Create content/graphics with Adobe Creative Cloud. Researches, composes and/or prepares correspondence, reports, newsletters, documents, notifications and memos using judgment and inserting own content as directed and required. May require the selection and use of specialized formats. Designs forms and information sheets as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/ or ability required. EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE Associate's degree (A.A.) in a computer-related field, journalism, public relations, communications, or related field; AND two (2) years of related experience in web production or website management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AND Two (2) years of experience working with graphic design software and other tools used in the maintenance and design of social media and other Internet -based communications. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as press releases, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience with Microsoft Office, Publisher, Adobe, and software necessary to develop and design web. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Washington State Driver's License. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Effective communication skills including, but not limited to technical writing, social media, writing to influence or story -telling. Knowledge of business, high level office procedures, formats, vocabulary, and writing skills. Ability to work independently and in a work environment. Ability to secure and impart information accurately. Understands the need for maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Knowledge of computers and skill in using spreadsheets, word processing, and other software programs used in the operation of the department. Knowledge of departmental procedures, including applicable laws for Washington State Local Public Health agencies and County regulations, policies, and procedures. Must possess a professional attitude, diplomacy, patience, tact and understanding when dealing with the public. Ability to exchange routine information with other employees, the public, and outside agencies while maintaining effective and harmonious relations. Knowledge of time management and organizational skills and ability to function with frequent interruptions, and in high stress and crowded surroundings.
