ORDINANCE NO. 2-9.0
An ORDINANCE regarding the annual date on or before which the
Treasurer of Jefferson County, Washington shall commence
proceedings in foreclosure of delinquent special assessments.
WHEREAS, RCW 35.50.030 authorizes the establishment of the date on or
before which the Treasurer shall commence foreclosure of delinquent special
assessments by general ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the March let date set by RCW 35.50.030 does not allow adequate
time to notify those persons named in the special assessment rolls of the
county as having delinquent assessments of the foreclosure action,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE
JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS:
Section 1. The proceedings to foreclose delinquent special assessments
shall be commenced on or before December 31st of that year in which two or
more installments of the assessments are delinquent or other conditions
precedent established by RCW 35.50.030 have been established.
Section 2. Upon failure to pay any installment due the entire assessment
shall become due and payable and the collection thereof enforced by
foreclosure: Provided, that the payment of all delinquent installments
together with interest, penalty and costs at any time before the entry of
judgment in foreclosure shall extend the time of payment on the remainder of
the assessments as if there had been no delinquency or foreclosure.
