RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
December 8, 2010 - 9:30 a.m.
MINUTES

Chair Lorna Delaney called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m. in the presence of Member Philip Morley
and Member David Alvarez.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Member Alvarez moved to approve the minutes of November 10, 2010 as presented. Member Morley
seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Committee met in Executive Session from 9:40 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. regarding potential litigation.
This exemption is outlined in the Open Public Meetings Act RCW 42.30.110(1)(i). The session actually
ran to 10:05 a.m. after being extended two times. At the conclusion of the Executive Session the
meeting was reopened to the public.
The Committee then met in Executive Session from 10:10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. regarding actual litigation,
specifically the U.S. District Court litigation brought by Daniel Hudson against the County. This
exemption is outlined in the Open Public Meetings Act RCW 42.30.110(1)(i). At the conclusion of the
Executive Session the meeting was reopened to the public.

Counties Risk Pool have assigned outside legal counsel to handle these claims. No action was taken by
the Committee.

NEW RISK MANAGEMENT POLICY/
CLAIM FOR DAMAGES FORM
Chairman Lorna Delaney informed the Committee that the updated Risk Management Policy and new
Claim for Damages Form are ready to be presented to the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners for
their review and approval. Treasurer Judi Morris has agreed to serve on the Committee however the 5th
Committee member still needs to be identified prior to the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners
review.

NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT
Member Morley moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:27 a.m. Member Alvarez seconded the motion
which carried by a unanimous vote.
