HomeMy WebLinkAboutM07092008RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE July 9, 2008 - 9:30 a.m. MINUTES MEMBERS: David Alvarez, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Dennis Richards, Interim County Administrator/Risk Manager Lorna Delaney, Clerk of the Board/Risk Coordinator (Chair) RECORDER: Erin Lundgren, Deputy Clerk of the Board Chair Lorna Delaney called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. in the presence of Members David Alvarez and Dennis Richards. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Member Alvarez moved to approve the minutes of May 14, 2008 as presented. Member Richards seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. EXECUTIVE SESSION The Committee met in Executive Session from 9:31 to 9:35 a.m. regarding potential litigation. This exemption is outlined in the Open Public Meetings Act RCW 42.30.110(1)(i). At the conclusion of the Executive Session the meeting was reconvened and the following deliberations and actions were taken. CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE DECISION Claim No.: #C-06-08 Claimant: Connie Minnihan Damages: $65.00 Allegation: Bodily Injury The Committee reviewed the details of this claim and agreed that the claimant should be reimbursed for her out- of-pocket expense in the amount of $65.00. Member Alvarez moved to approve payment of claim #C-06-08 submitted by Connie Minnihan in the amount of $65.00 in exchange for the claimant signing a "Release of Liability" form. Member Richards seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. Decision: Approved Risk Management Committee Meeting Minutes - July 9, 2008 Page: 2 Claim No.: #C-08-08 Claimant: Gred Mika Damages: $886.55 Allegation: Vehicle Damage The Committee reviewed the details of this claim. Member Alvarez explained that the Committee previously reviewed this claim and approved payment in full. The claimant later presented documentation showing that there was an additional cost to repair his vehicle due to the heated windshield which was not considered in the initial estimate. The Committee agreed that the additional cost should be paid. Member Alvarez moved to approve payment of claim #C-08-08 submitted by Greg Mika for the additional amount of $886.55 in exchange for the claimant signing a "Release of Liability" form.. Member Richards seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. Decision: Approved Claim No.: 4C-09-08 Claimant: Ernest Renfro Damages: $1,104.22 Allegation: Vehicle Damage The Committee reviewed the details of this claim. Member Alvarez noted that the Sheriff's office verified the damages were sustained as claimed. The Committee agreed that this claim should be paid in full. Member Alvarez moved to approve payment of claim #C-09-08 submitted by Ernest Renfro in the amount of $1,104.22 in exchange for the claimant signing a "Release of Liability" form. Member Richards seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. Decision: Approved DIRECTION TO THE CLERK/RECORDER Member Alvarez moved to direct the Clerk to prepare for signature, the claim reports regarding the decision made on each claim. Member Richards seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT Member Alvarez moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:42 a.m. Member Richards seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.
