HomeMy WebLinkAboutM01222007RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES January 22, 2007 Present: David Alvarez, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney John Fischbach, County Administrator, Risk Manager Erin Lundgren, Claims Coordinator Donna Eldridge, Auditor CLAIMS CLAIMANT: Daniel Nidzgorski CLAIM #: C-19-06 DAMAGES: $3,207.37 ALLEGATION: Damage to Personal Vehicle While Driving on County Business. DISCUSSION: The Risk Manager, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and County Auditor discussed the Risk Management Committee's approval of this claim on November 16, 2006. The Auditor provided a copy of Jefferson County Personnel Policy, Appendix "D," Section 15.2 Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Proof of Personal Insurance which states: "Operators are to have a valid Washington State driver's license and Proof of Personal Insurance in their possession while operating a privately owned motor vehicle when conducting official County business. Damage that occurs to an employee's vehicle while the vehicle is being used for official County business is the responsibility of the employee andlor their insurance carrier. " Based on this policy the claim cannot be paid. The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecutor expressed regret for overlooking this policy at the time of their initial decision. Both agreed to reverse the decision and deny the claim based on Section 15.2 of Appendix "D" of the Jefferson County Personnel Policy. DECISION: Deny Claim Meeting adjourned.
