ALLEGATION: Illegal confiscation of firearms
DISCUSSION: Upon review of this claim the Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney agreed to
recommend that it be denied on the basis that Jefferson County District Court entered an
Order that the firearms be forfeited to the State. Thus, the forfeiture of the firearms was
lawful, and does not give rise to a cause of action for the claimant.

ALLEGATION: Volunteer injured at Animal Shelter
DISCUSSION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney reviewed this claim and recommend
that it be denied on the basis that Jefferson County is not the appropriate agency for this
claim because it is based on medical expenses incurred. Since the claimant was injured
while serving as a volunteer for Jefferson County, she must file her claim with the
Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
