HomeMy WebLinkAboutM09232003RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES September 23, 2003 Present: David Alvarez, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Goldsmith, Risk Manager, County Administrator Erin Lundgren, Claims Coordinator CLAIMS CLAIMANT: Chris Adams CLAIM #: C-20-03 DAMAGES: $5,129.19 ALLEGATION: Unnecessary expenses incurred due to Health Department staff error. DISCUSSION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney reviewed the above referenced claim. A telephone conference call was held with the claimant to determine the actual costs incurred by the claimant as a result of mis-information from County staff. The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney determined that Jefferson County is not responsible for surveying costs beyond those required for the boundary line adjustment and agreed that the total amount of the claim should be reduced by one-half of the surveying cost or $1,150.00. Payment of a portion of the claim in the amount of $3,979.19 is warranted. DECISION: Pay a reduced amount of the claim. The status of the claims received from Rockne Anderson, #C-27-03 and Jerry Bledsoe, #C-31-03 were reviewed. Both claims were sent to the Washington Counties Risk Pool and are being handled by private attorneys hired to defend the County. No further action will be taken by the Risk Management Committee. Meeting adjourned.
