DEPARTMENT/OFFICE: PERMIT CENTER Proaram/Service: Permits for Building, Sewage Disposal Systems, Shorelines, Road Approach and Utility Installation; Approvals for Potable Water, Critical Area Review, Subdivision, and Zoning; Addresses. Function/Puroose: The primary mission of the Permit Center is to serve the citizens of Jefferson County when they inquire about andlor apply for permits related to the development of property within unincorporated Jefferson County. The Permit Coordination Division expedites and coordinates the application and review of permits. Coordination occurs among the Departments of Environmental Health, Public Works and the Divisions of Building and Development Review. The Building Division administers and enforces the Uniform Building Code, the WA State Energy Code and land use codes pertaining to construction, alteration and use of new and existing structures. These activities include building permit processing, plan review, issuing of permits, and field inspections of construction projects for compliance with adopted codes. The Development Review Division administers the Jefferson County Subdivision Ordinance, Zoning Code, Shoreline Master Program, Critical Areas Ordinance, State Environmental Policy Act, and other county ordinances and resolutions related to property development.
