MINUTES
February 14, 2001
Deputy Prosecutor David Alvarez and Risk Manager David Goldsmith reviewed the following claims for
damages. Claims Coordinator Erin Lundgren was also present.
CLAIMS
CLAIMANT: Puget Sound Energy
CLAIM#: C-30-00
DAMAGES: $9,280.19
ALLEGATION: Damaged Power Pole
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith reported that he sent a letter to Puget Sound Energy in
December 2000 requesting additional information in support of their claim for damages.
To date, no response has been received. Deputy Prosecutor David Alvarez suggested that
a second letter be sent to them, again requesting additional information in support of their
claim. It was agreed to table action on this claim for thirty days pending a response from
Puget Sound Energy. The Risk Manager will draft the second letter.

CLAIMANT: Elizabeth Johnson
CLAIM#: C-3-01
DAMAGES: $286.91
ALLEGATION: Damaged Vehicle
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith reviewed the details of the claim referenced above.
Based on the information provided by the claimant and the responding department, it was
found that Jefferson County is not liable for the damages sustained as there was no
roadway surface failure during the time the incident occurred.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecutor will recommend to the County Administrator
that the claim be denied.

CLAIM#: C-4-01
DAMAGES: $418.28+tax
ALLEGATION: Damaged Vehicle
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith reviewed the claim referenced above. Based on the
information provided by the claimant and the responding department, it was found that
the Jefferson County Road Crew had performed road maintenance in the area where the
incident occurred and verified the damages sustained.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecutor will recommend to the County Administrator
that the claim be paid.
