Deputy Claims Coordinator Leslie Locke was also present. CLAIMS CLAIMANT: Casey McHenry CLAIM#: C-12-01 DAMAGES: $1,833.08 ALLEGATION: Damage to Vehicle DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Alvarez reviewed the details of the claim for damages referenced above. Based on the information provided by the claimant and the responding department, it was found that the Jefferson County Road Crew was performing road maintenance in the area where the incident occurred and verified the damages sustained. DECISION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecutor will recommend to the County Administrator that the claim be paid. CLAIMANT: Several Residents of Cape George CLAIM#: To Be Determined DAMAGES: Amount Unknown ALLEGATION: Damage to Mailboxes DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith reported that a Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy was responding to an emergency 911 call when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a row of mailboxes along the side of road. Several of the mailboxes were destroyed and it is undetermined how many claims will be received for this incident. The residents have been instructed to repair or replace the damaged mailboxes and attach receipts to their claim forms for reimbursement. David Goldsmith suggested a blanket approval, not to exceed $300.00 per claim. DECISION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecutor will recommend to the County Administrator that the claims be paid. 4 -1 RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING -JUNE 18, 2001 CLAIMANT: Puget Sound Energy CLAIM#: C-30-00 DAMAGES: $9,280.19 ALLEGATION: Damaged Power Pole DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith stated that Puget Sound Energy has agreed on a settlement amount. A fax was received from the Attorney hired by Puget Sound Energy stating that Jefferson County will pay $2,320.05 (25%) and Sprint will pay the remainder. DECISION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecutor will recommend to the County Administrator that the claim be paid. CLAIMANT: Jeff Ingman, Prospect View, Inc. CLAIM#: C-11-01 DAMAGES: $155,267.55 ALLEGATION: Building Permit Wrongly Denied DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Alvarez reviewed the details of the claim for damages referenced above. Mr. Goldsmith attended a settlement meeting in which no decision was made. He will contact the claimant again to discuss a possible settlement offer. A recommendation will be made at a later date. DECISION: Pending Meeting adjourned.
