MINUTES
February 22, 2000
Prosecuting Attorney Juelie Dalzell and Risk Manager David Goldsmith met to discuss the following
claims for damages. Claims Coordinator Erin Lundgren was also present.
CLAIMS
CLAIMANT: Larry D. Hutton
CLAIM NO: #C-1-00
DAMAGES: $400.00
ALLEGATION: Damage to passenger side of vehicle due to driving on soft shoulder/false road.
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith reviewed the claim submitted. It was agreed by
both the Risk Manager and the Prosecuting Attorney that Jefferson County is not
liable for the damages claimed since the County Public Works road design
standards do not require a fogline for that segment of roadway.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the Board of
County Commissioners that the claim be denied.
CLAIMANT: Edward McLaughlin
CLAIM NO: #C-2-00
DAMAGES: $70.00
ALLEGATION: County road crew cut down oriental Dogwood tree with brush-cutter.
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith reviewed the claim submitted. According to the
Public Works department, road crew personnel were conducting routine road
maintenance in the area and the tree was inadvertently cut.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the Board of
County Commissioners that the claim be paid.

CLAIMANT: Thomas Powell
CLAIM NO: #C-3-00
DAMAGES: $1,117.84
ALLEGATION: County road crew cut vegetation on private property with brush cutter.
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith reviewed the claim submitted. According to the
Public Works department, road crew personnel were conducting routine road
maintenance in the area and cut the vegetation as described in the claim.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the Board of
County Commissioners that the claim be paid.
