HomeMy WebLinkAboutM03082000 RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES March 8, 2000 Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Alvarez and Risk Manager David Goldsmith met to discuss the following claims for damages. Claims Coordinator Erin Lundgren was also present. CLAIMS CLAIMANT: Jerry Eckenrode CLAIM NO: #C-5-00 DAMAGES: $385.36 ALLEGATION: Damage to windshield of vehicle. DISCUSSION: After reviewing the details of the claim submitted, it was agreed by both the Risk Manager and the Deputy Prosecutor that Jefferson County is not liable for the damages claimed,since, the County does not own lime green trucks and does not maintain the roadway where the incident occurred. It is believed that the vehicle windshield damage resulted from road maintenance being performed by State Department of Transportation personnel. DECISION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecutor will recommend to the Board of County Commissioners that the claim be denied. CLAIMANT: Hiddendale Community Club CLAIM NO: #C-6-00 DAMAGES: $4,027.59 ALLEGATION: County road crew broke water line while clearing ditch. DISCUSSION: The details of the claim were reviewed by the Risk Manager and the Deputy Prosecutor. Additional information will be requested from the Public Works Department prior to making a recommendation on this claim. DECISION: Pending Risk Management Committee Minutes of March 8, 2000 Page: 2 CLAIMANT: Colin D. Anable CLAIM NO: #C-8-00 DAMAGES: $170.11 ALLEGATION: Damage to eyeglasses while performing County business. DISCUSSION: Upon reviewing the claim, it was noted that the costs incurred due to the damage of the eyeglasses is covered by Labor and Industries (L&I) insurance, as well as the claimant's/employee's Teamster insurance benefits. However, any portion of the expense not covered by L&I or Teamsters will be paid by the County upon submittal of a revised claim for damages. DECISION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the Board of County Commissioners that the claim be denied. CLAIMANT: John Kohl CLAIM NO: #C-9-00 DAMAGES: $158.61 ALLEGATION: Rock thrown from County machinery broke canopy of vehicle. DISCUSSION: Upon reviewing the claim, it was noted that Jefferson County road crew was performing brush cutting operations on Crutcher Road when a rock was thrown from the machine, breaking the canopy window of the claimant's vehicle. DECISION: The Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the Board of County Commissioners that the claim be paid. Meeting adjourned.
