MINUTES
October 25, 2000
Deputy Prosecutor David Alvarez and Risk Manager David Goldsmith met to discuss the following claims for
damages. Claims Coordinator Erin Lundgren was also present.
CLAIMS
CLAIMANT: Eric Jerochim
CLAIM#: C-23-00
DAMAGES: $375.00
ALLEGATION: Vehicle Damage
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith explained that according to the claimant he attempted to
wash the tar off of the truck which resulted in scratches to the paint. While the County
road crew was performing work in the area where the incident occurred, Jefferson
County is not responsible the scratches. It was agreed that the claim should be accepted
for a reduced amount.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the County
Administrator that the claim be accepted for a reduced amount of$250.00.
CLAIMANT: Marion Lakenes
CLAIM#: C-24-00
DAMAGES: $425.52
ALLEGATION: Vehicle Damage
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith explained that the damage to the windshield was caused
by a rock thrown from the road surface, constituting a"road hazard" for which the
County is not liable. Deputy Prosecutor David Alvarez noted that the incident occurred
on a Saturday and the claimant does not indicate whether or not a County vehicle was
involved.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the County
Administrator that the claim be denied.

CLAIMANT: Sandra Gibbons
CLAIM#: C-25-00
DAMAGES: $344.20 +
ALLEGATION: Vehicle Damage
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith explained that the damage to the windshield was caused
by a rock thrown from the road surface, constituting a"road hazard" for which the
County is not liable. It was agreed that the claimant should be compensated for the tar
removal, solvent and wax.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the County
Administrator that the claim be accepted for a reduced amount of$200.00.
CLAIMANT: Jake Wenzel
CLAIM#: C-26-00
DAMAGES: $326.50 +tax
ALLEGATION: Vehicle Damage
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith explained that the damage to the windshield was caused
by a rock thrown from the road surface, constituting a"road hazard" for which the
County is not liable. Deputy Prosecutor David Alvarez stated that the claimant did not
provide any evidence of County liability. It was agreed to recommend that the claim be
rejected until the Claimant can provide a basis for the claim.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the County
Administrator that the claim be denied.
CLAIMANT: Grant Seran
CLAIM#: C-27-00
DAMAGES: $345.35 + tax
ALLEGATION: Vehicle Damage
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith explained that the County road crew was performing
mowing operations in the area at the time the incident occurred and verified the
damages sustained.
DECISION: The Risk Manager and Prosecuting Attorney will recommend to the County
Administrator that the claim be accepted.
