March 22, 1999
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Shirley Waters-Nixon and Risk Manager David Goldsmith discussed the
following claim for damages. Claims Coordinator Erin Lundgren was not present.
CLAIMS
CLAIMANT: Helen Hall
CLAIM NO: #C-12-99
DAMAGES: $50.00
ALLEGATION: Physical injury above and below left eye as a result of falling onto cement after
tripping over raised portion of sidewalk just outside the side entrance of Courthouse.
DISCUSSION: Risk Manager David Goldsmith reviewed the details of the claim with Deputy
Prosecuting Attorney Shirley Waters-Nixon. Due to the uneven portions of the
sidewalk,Jefferson County is liable for the incident. The sidewalk has since been
improved.
DECISION: Based on the facts,the Risk Manager and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney agreed to
recommend to the Board of County Commissioners that the claim be paid.
