KNOWN AS DUCKABUSH FLATS } WHEREAS, on February 27, 1995 Ordinance No. 03-0227-95 was adopted by Jefferson County which allows residents of specific, defined areas in the County to petition the Board of Commissioners to establish a "No Shooting" area, and; WHEREAS, a petition was received from residents of the Brinnon area located in voting Precinct 304 which were found to be sufficient, upon review by the County Auditor, for the purposes of establishing a "No Shooting" area by this ordinance, and; WHEREAS, the Board held the required, and duly advertised, public hearing on May 5, 1997 for the establishment of the area identified below as a "No Shooting" area; and, WHEREAS, after reviewing the testimony, written and oral, presented at the public hearing, we make the following findings: 1. The discharge of firearms near developed residential areas in unincorporated Jefferson County presents a safety hazard to residents of the area. 2. The area identified as a "No Shooting" area is well defined and the boundaries have been identified. 3. There was evidence presented that there have been problems in the Brinnon area with shots being fired at or near residences, and with people hunting in the Black Point area very close to residences. 4. The majority of the area defined is privately owned property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, that the area described below is hereby established as a "No Shooting" area as provided in Ordinance No. 03-0227-95. Page 1 I Ordinance No. 05-0519-97 :No Shooting Zone Established for the Black Point Vicinity of Brinnon SEAL: Marinas at mile marker #308 on Highway 101. The boundary then moves southwesterly along the highway to the first Duckabush River Bridge at mile marker #310. The boundary includes all of Black Point surrounded by Hood Canal, to the East of Highway 101 between the above referenced mile markers EXCEPT that portion along the southern boundary known as the Duckabush Flats which is along the Duckabush River Estuary below the shoreline bluff. Box 1220 Port Townsend, WA 98368 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CREATION OF A "NO SHOOTING" AREA IN THE VICINITY OF BRINNON NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners have received, and the Auditor has found sufficient, a petition for the establishment of a "No Shooting" area surrounding a portion of Black Point in Brinnon described as follows: BOUNDARY DESCRIPTION: The northern boundary begins at and includes the Old and New Pleasant Harbor Marinas at mile marker 4308 on Highway 101. The boundary then moves southwesterly along the highway to the first Duckabush River Bridge at mile marker #310. The boundary includes all of Black Point surrounded by Hood Canal, to the East of Highway 101 between the above referenced mile markers. The Board will conduct a public hearing on this petition the 5th day of May, 1997, at the hour of 7:00 p.m., at the Brinnon Senior Center, for the purpose of taking testimony from all interested persons.
