THE CHIMACUM PREVENTION COALITION MAY 9, 2018 MEETING WILL BE FROM 3:00 –
4:00 AT THE CHIMACUM HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY, 91 WEST VALLEY ROAD, CHIMACUM,
WA.
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: Social Host Ordinance discussion with Sheriff Stanko and Chief
Evans. Begin Action Plan school year 2018-2019.
Facilitators for this meeting: Denise Banker and Brian MacKenzie
In attendance: Ciela Meyer, Kris Becker, Ron McClung, Dana Nixon, Sheriff David Stanko,
Police Chief Michael Evans

Call meeting to order; Approve agenda, Kris moved, Ciela
seconded, motion carried. Approve April minutes, Ciela
moved, Denise seconded, motion carried.
3:05 Denise
~Teen Center is funded through school year 2018-19 and are re-
forming their board. Denise and Tanya will attend their June 14
board meeting for discussion about Teen Center programming and
interest in future merger.
~JCPH now has a social media policy so county approved
Facebook posts may be posted and linked.
~Youth focus groups are complete; Denise distributed a summary
report. Please read and send responses, corrections back to
Denise. Next step is revising our name and logo, using focus group
findings to inform our 2018-19 action plan.
3:08 Brian Introductions: Coalition and guests. Guests include Sheriff, Police
Chief, and 2 CPWI site visitors.

Social Host Ordinance discussion. Discussion with Sheriff Stanko
and Police Chief Evans. A proclamation may be a viable alternative
to an ordinance. Brian recommended immediate
messaging/education in time for graduation; Chief Evans

recommended a focus on the “do”s rather than the “don’t”s. Next
year, look into a proclamation combined with educational PR
campaign that would also promote the Guiding Good Choices
parenting class. Invite city/county gov reps to future meeting to
inform us about the proclamation process.

Action Planning: This year let’s have explicit plans: NFP
partnership. Guiding Good Choices 2 sessions. One evidence-
based program in school. Two films (PTFF and Library). Training.
Speaker. Drug Take Backs. Farmers Market.
Two school-based programs were suggested: SPORT and
Protecting You, Protecting Me.
4:05 Brian Close Meeting.
The June 13, 2018 meeting of the Chimacum Prevention Coalition will be held at the Chimacum
High School Library from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Purpose: 2018-2019 Action Plan. No meeting in July
and August
ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG PREVENTION IS GOOD WORK.
