Share air time and encourage all members to participate DRAFT MINUTES June 13, 2018 3:00 to 4:00 pm Chimacum High School Library THE CHIMACUM PREVENTION COALITION June 13, 2018 MEETING WILL BE FROM 3:00 – 4:00 AT THE CHIMACUM HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY, 91 WEST VALLEY ROAD, CHIMACUM, WA. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: Discuss Name and Logo; Action Plan school year 2018-2019. We have to decide on an in-school program for the school year 2018-2019. Action Plan and Budget due DBHR June 15th. Facilitators for this meeting: Denise Banker and Brian MacKenzie Present: Sarah Rogers, Chris Hoffman-Hill, Kathleen Kler, Ron McClung, Mark Gudger, Justine Bedell, Kris Becker Time/Facilitator Activity 3:00 Brian Call meeting to order; Approve agenda: Kathleen moved, Chris seconded, motion carried. Approve minutes: Ron moved, Denise seconded, motion carried. 3:05 Sarah Attended the DBHR leadership meeting, great networking, increased knowledge of prevention theory, coalition requirements, examples of work from other coalitions include: Good Behavior Game in schools and a year-long, high school course on ACEs. Denise noted that our local focus groups are interested in ACEs learning as well. 3:10 Denise/Justine Report: OlyCap focus group, comprised of participants in therapeutic courts. Much insight offered from their personal experience and resilience. Suggested activities include: panel discussion for teens, lobbying for drug prevention funds, attend coalition meetings, connect with mindfulness trainer at the jail. 3:20 Brian/Denise Name: Reviewed focus group short list and identified names that are not yet in use by other groups and programs. Brian took options with him and will ask students Thursday and Friday (June 14, 15) for opinions. Denise will follow up with Brian and announce the students’ choice. Logo: consult w/ sign shop owned by student’s family. Prefer an illustration over a photo. Considering a seed sprouting out of ground. Photo from student walk-out this spring to be used in brochure, illustrating teen empowerment. 4:00 Brian/Denise TABLED: Action Planning: Review draft action plan: NFP. Guiding Good Choices 2 sessions. One evidence-based program in school. Three films (PTFF and Library). Training: Resilience x3. Denise will report over the summer re. Action Plan. 4:10: Brian Close Meeting. The Sept. 12, 2018 meeting of the Chimacum Prevention Coalition will be held at the Chimacum High School Library from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Purpose: In-school education program implementation schedule. No meeting in July and August. ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG PREVENTION IS GOOD WORK.
