IN THE MATTER OF THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A } ORDINANCE NO. 03- 0614 -99
"NO SHOOTING" AREA }
IN BRINNON }
WHEREAS, on February 27, 1995 Ordinance No. 03- 0227 -95 was adopted by Jefferson
County which allows residents of specific, defined areas in the County to petition the Board of
Commissioners to establish a "No Shooting" area, and;
WHEREAS, a petition was received from residents of the Brinnon area located in voting
Precinct 204 which were found to be sufficient, upon review by the County Auditor, for the purposes of
establishing a "No Shooting" area by this ordinance, and;
WHEREAS, the Board held the required, and duly advertised, public hearing on March
15, 1999 for the establishment of the area identified below as a "No Shooting" area; and,
WHEREAS, after reviewing the testimony, written and oral, presented at the public
hearing, we make the following findings:
1. The discharge of firearms near developed residential areas in unincorporated Jefferson
County presents a safety hazard to residents of the area.
2. The area identified as a "No Shooting" area is well defined and the boundaries have been
identified.
3. There was evidence presented that there have been problems in the Brinnon area with
shots being fired at or near residences, and with people hunting very close to residences.
4. The majority of the area defined is privately owned property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, that the area described below is hereby
established as a "No Shooting" area as provided in Ordinance No. 03- 0227 -95.

BOUNDARY DESCRIPTION:
The area bordered on the east by Highway 101; on the North by the
Dosewallips Road; on the west by the power line; and on the south by the
Dosewallips River.

APPROVED and effective this 14th day of June, 1999.
