HomeMy WebLinkAbout06 0807 00 tee 'krJ1j "6115100 STATE OF WASHINGTON County of Jefferson IN THE MATTER OF AN } ORDINANCE with Findings of Fact } Extending the Interim Control Ordinance} (ICO), for an additional six-months} pursuant to RCW 36.70A.390 } Ordinance NO. 06-0807-00 The Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners hereby enters the following findings of fact in support of extending this Ordinance for a period of six-months pursuant to RCW 36.70A.390. 1. The Board of County Commissioners adopted the Interim Control Ordinance (ICO) on August 28, 1998 to provide interim development regulations to ensure land use decisions were consistent with the Jefferson County Comprehensive Plan adopted on that same day and with the intent of the Growth Management Act (GMA). 2. The Board intends this Ordinance to serve as an interim measure subject to repeal and replacement at the time the County adopts final development regulations to fully implement the County's adopted Comprehensive Plan. 3. The Board of County Commissioners has contracted with Earth Tech, an engineering and planning consulting firm, to prepare the County's development regulations, to be known as the Jefferson County Unified Development Code (UDC). The target date for adoption of the UDC is December of Fiscal Year 2000. 4. On February 22, 1999, the Board extended the effective date of the ICO for a period of six months in compliance with the requirements contained in Chapter 36.70A.390 RCW. 5. On August 23, 1999, the Board extended the effective date of the ICO for another period of six months in compliance with the requirements contained in Chapter 36.70A.390 RCW. 6. On February 7, 2000, the Board extended the effective date of the ICO for another period of six months in compliance with the requirements contained in Chapter 36.70A.390 RCW. 7. To ensure land use decisions continue to be consistent with the County's Comprehensive Plan and the intent of the Growth Management Act, the BOCC finds that it is necessary to extend the effective date of this ordinance for an additional six-month period. 8. The Board finds that the extension of the effective term of this Ordinance is in the best interests of the public health, safety and welfare of the County as a whole. 10. A public hearing will be held within sixty (60) days. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, Ordinance No. 06-0828-98 is readopted in its entirety with amendments and shall remain in effect until such time as final development regulations are adopted or six (6) months from this date whichever occurs first.
