NOTICE OF RESCHEDULED PUBLIC HEARING AND PUBLIC COMMENT
ON DRAFT COMMERCIAL SHOOTING FACILITY ORDINANCE
Notice is hereby given that pursuant to RCW 36.18.040(3) and RCW 36.32.120(7), a new public
hearing will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. in McCurdy Pavilion at Fort
Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend, WA for the purpose of taking oral and
written testimony regarding an Ordinance which would, if enacted, rename Chapter 8.50 JCC
“Shooting in Jefferson County,” add Article III that would require an operating permit for existing
and proposed commercial shooting facilities, and harmonize the existing Articles I and II
accordingly. Written and oral testimony provided on October 1, 2018 starting at 6:30 p.m. has
been expunged from the hearing record. Anyone, including people who previously offered
testimony on October 1 may provide oral or written testimony for the new Public Hearing on
October 24. Written testimony submitted on or after September 12, 2018 to the BoCC will be
considered part of the hearing record. In addition to the October 24, 2018 Public Hearing, written
testimony may also be submitted and must be received by the County no later than 4:30 p.m.
October 26, 2018, addressed to the BoCC at P.O. Box 1220, Port Townsend, WA 98368 or by
email at jeffbocc@co.jefferson.wa.us unless extended by the Board of County Commissioners.
The proposed new Article III of Chapter 8.50 JCC contains the following sections:

8.50.230 Operating Permit Required.
8.50.240 Application for a Commercial Shooting Facility Operating Permit.
8.50.250 Minimum Standards.
8.50.260 Administrative Remedy for Decisions Made by the Director.
8.50.270 Judicial Appeals.
8.50.280 Safe Harbor for Owners and Operators.
8.50.290 Reports of Violations of this Article.
8.50.300 Review Committee.
8.50.310 Conflicts with JCC 18.20.350(8) and Limitations on the Applicability of this Article.
8.50.320 Warning and Disclaimer of Liability.
