THE CHIMACUM PREVENTION COALITION Oct 10, 2018 MEETING WILL BE FROM 3:00 –
4:00 AT THE CHIMACUM HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY, 91 WEST VALLEY ROAD, CHIMACUM,
WA.
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: In-school 9th grade (health class) education program
implementation plan and schedule (Life Skills). October Coalition Assessment Tool. Guiding
Good Choices report. Drug Take Back event.

In attendance: Ciela Meyer, Chris Hoffman-Hill, Kris Becker, Ron McClung, Justine Bedell, Mark
Gudger, Sarah Rogers, Richard Davies

3:00 Denise Members completed Coalition assessment survey.
3:10 Denise Approve agenda – Kris moved, Chris seconded; motion carried.
Approve Sept 2018 minutes – Ciela moved, Mark seconded; motion
carried.

In-school 9th grade Life Skills training/implementation/schedule:
~Denise will complete facilitator training and teach the Life Skills
course in 9th grade Health classrooms. Course may be offered over
5 weeks for first semester students in January and over 10 weeks
for second semester students.
~9th grade Portfolio classes receive the Toward No Drug Abuse
course taught by Ciela, both semesters.
3:25 Ciela, Justine
Ciela presented the 2017-18 Student Assistance Program
outcomes report. Discussion of highlights, trends, and interventions.
Discussion of youth homelessness and housing referrals. Justine
described the demonstration project at Olycap to address youth
homelessness.

Drug Take Back will be Oct 27th at QFC in Port Hadlock with Sheriff
Stanko and volunteers from QFC. Discussion of MAT services in
Jefferson County. Sarah described the project of establishing a
Recovery Café. Denise informed that Port Townsend School District
is establishing a new CPWI.

~Discussion of Drug Impairment training to be offered to the public.
~Subcommittee to plan ACEs/Resilience workshop offered by
Kitsap Strong: Chris, Sarah, Ciela, Denise.

The Nov 14th, 2018 meeting of the Chimacum Prevention Coalition will be held at the
Chimacum High School Library from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG PREVENTION IS GOOD WORK.
