Jefferson County is aligned with the Nature Conservancy's vision of sustainable land management that supports thriving ecosystems and thriving communities. With high rates of poverty among residents in the coastal areas of Jefferson County, encouraging forestry and riparian restoration to provide jobs, support healthy forests and salmon runs is essential. We also appreciate The Nature Conservancy's efforts to collaborate with Tribes, local government, and impacted communities. This approach is essential for projects to succeed in rural, resource-based economies. This project's many goals are shared by Jefferson County. Its focus on innovative,cost-effective restoration that provides jobs and training is much-needed. Removing fish passage barriers helps the region align with the recent US Supreme Court ruling. Lastly, increased capacity for carbon sequestration mitigates the impacts we are already seeing from climate change regionally. Please consider the Hoh Upland Restoration for funding with our full support. Thank You,
