To determine the cause and manner of death for those deaths identified as reportable to the County Coroner as accurately as possible. 2. To identify possible epidemiological trends which might threaten the health of Jefferson County residents and visitors. OBJECTIVES FOR FY2019 1. Arrange for the performance of autopsies and toxicological analyses to most accurately determine the cause and manner of death in reportable cases. 2. Consult with primary care physicians to best determine the cause of death in reportable deaths without incurring cost to the county for an autopsy when possible. 3. Notify appropriate public safety officials of any epidemiological events or trends, if they should occur within the county. Every deputy prosecuting attorney in Jefferson County serve as deputy coroners. Prosecuting attorneys need training to do death investigations The Washington Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners is attempting to provide low cost trainings throughout the state. Attendance at these trainings will greatly enhance the abilities of the Coroner and deputies to provide meaningful assistance at death investigations.
