REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
8:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2018
Jefferson County Courthouse, County Administrator’s Conference Room
Present: Chair David Sullivan and Board Members Mel Mefford, Howard Scott, and David
Faber, and Acting Secretary Leslie Locke were present.
Call to Order: Chair Sullivan called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Approval of Minutes: Member Faber moved to approve the regular meeting minutes of April
10, 2018 as presented. Member Mefford seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Closed Session: Chair Sullivan announced the Board will meet in Closed Session from 8:31
a.m. to 8:50 a.m. with the LEOFF I Board Secretary to review and discuss medical expenses
under exemption RCW 42.30.140(2) as outlined in the Open Public Meeting Act. The Board
resumed the regular meeting at 8:50 a.m. Chair Sullivan announced the Board will extend the
Closed Session from 8:50 a.m. to 9:05 a.m. The Board concluded the Closed Session and
resumed the regular meeting at 8:57 a.m.
Determination on Payment of Medical Expenses: Member Faber moved to approve payment
of dental expenses in the amount of $665 submitted by LEOFFI Retiree Howard Scott as
allowed pursuant to section 9.9 of the LEOFFI Board Rules, Policies and Procedures. Member
Mefford seconded the motion. Member Scott abstained from voting. The motion carried.
Member Faber moved to approve payment of a hearing aid replacement in the amount not to
exceed $6,000 submitted by LEOFFI Retiree Loren Krieger as allowed pursuant to section 9.8.1
of the LEOFFI Board Rules, Policies and Procedures. Member Mefford seconded the motion.
The motion carried.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 a.m. until the next regularly scheduled
meeting on April 9, 2019 or special meeting as properly noticed.
