SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
8:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016
Jefferson County Courthouse, County Administrator’s Conference Room
Present: Board Members Tim Perry, Howard Scott, Mel Mefford, David Faber and Phil
Johnson, and Secretary Erin Lundgren were present.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m.
Closed Session: The Board was scheduled to meet in closed session from 8:31 a.m. to 9:00
a.m. with the LEOFF I Board Secretary to review and discuss medical bills under exemption
RCW 42.30.140(2) as outlined in the Open Public Meeting Act. The actual period of time the
Board met in Closed Session on this topic was from 8:31 a.m. to 8:54 a.m. At the conclusion of
the Closed Session the Board resumed the Special Meeting.
Determination on Payment of Medical Bills: 1) City of Port Townsend Retiree Frank
Merrill; and 2) Jefferson County Retiree Hank Sukert: Member Faber moved to conditionally
approve payment of a claim in the amount of $5,962.96 submitted by Hank Sukert, contingent
upon Mr. Sukert providing additional documentation as required by the LEOFF-I Board Rules,
Policies and Procedures. Member Mefford seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous
vote.
Member Johnson moved to deny payment of a claim submitted by Frank Merrill on the basis
that the request does not meet the conditions outlined in the LEOFF-1 Board Rules, Policies
and Procedures. Member Mefford seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:02 a.m. until the next regularly scheduled
