SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
8:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2014
Jefferson County Courthouse - County Administrator’s Conference Room
Present: Board Members Phil Johnson, Deborah Stinson, Mel Mefford and Howard Scott, and
Secretary Erin Lundgren were present. Chair Tim Perry was absent.
Call to Order: Acting-Chair Johnson called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Request for Payment of Claim; Jefferson County Retiree Michael Brasfield: A request for
payment of a claim for dental expenses was submitted by Jefferson County LEOFF I retirement plan
member Michael Brasfield. The Board reviewed the documentation that was submitted and
determined that the claim should be paid.
Member Mefford moved to approve payment of the dental expenses in the amount of $1,350.90 for
Mike Brasfield. Member Scott seconded the motion. The motion carried.
The Secretary will notify Jefferson County Auditor’s Office - Accounting Division of the Board’s
decision.
Member Scott abstained from discussing and voting on the following claim.
Request for Payment of Claim; City of Port Townsend Retiree Howard Scott: A request for
payment of a claim for the replacement of hearing aids was submitted by City of Port Townsend
LEOFF I retirement plan member Howard Scott. The Board reviewed the documentation that was
submitted and determined that the claim should be paid.
Member Mefford moved to approve payment up to $6,000 for the replacement of hearing aids for
Howard Scott. Member Stinson seconded the motion. A vote was called on the motion. Members
Stinson, Mefford and Johnson voted in favor of the motion. Member Scott abstained from voting.
The motion carried (3 in favor, 1 abstention).
The Secretary will notify the City’s Finance Department of the Board’s decision.
