HomeMy WebLinkAboutM080714S JEFFERSON COUNTY/CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND LEOFF 1 RETIREMENT/DISABILITY BOARD Jefferson County Courthouse 1820 Jefferson Street Port Townsend, WA 98368 (360) 385-9100 SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES 8:30 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014 Jefferson County Courthouse, County Administrator’s Conference Room Present: Board Members Deborah Stinson, Tim Perry, Phil Johnson, Howard Scott and Mel Mefford, and Secretary Erin Lundgren were present. Call to Order: Chairman Perry called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Member Scott abstained from discussing and voting on the following claim. Request for Payment of Claim; City of Port Townsend Retiree Howard Scott: The Board reviewed a request for payment of a claim in the amount of $70 submitted by City of Port Townsend LEOFFI Retiree Howard Scott for a portion of chiropractic treatment services which were not entirely covered by Medicare. In accordance with the LEOFFI Board Policies and Procedures, the claim was not found to be unreasonable, excessive or continuous. Member Mefford moved to approve payment of the claim in the amount of $70. Member Johnson seconded the motion. A vote was called on the motion. Members Stinson, Mefford, Johnson and Perry voted in favor of the motion. Member Scott abstained from voting. The motion carried (4 in favor, 1 abstention). The Secretary will notify the City’s Finance Department of the Board’s decision. Request for Payment of Claim; City of Port Townsend Retiree Luanne Boice: The Board reviewed a request for payment of a claim in the amount of $500 submitted by City of Port Townsend LEOFFI Retiree Luanne Boice for out-of-pocket dental expenses. In accordance Member Representing Phil Johnson Jefferson County Deborah Stinson City of Port Townsend Mel Mefford Law Enforcement Howard Scott Fire Fighter’s Association Tim Perry Citizen at Large Erin Lundgren, Secretary Jefferson County/City of Port Townsend LEOFF 1 Retirement/Disability Board Meeting Minutes – August 7, 2014 Page: 2 with the LEOFFI Board Policies and Procedures, payment of the claim is allowed. Member Stinson moved to approve payment of the claim in the amount of $500. Member Johnson seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. The Secretary will notify the claimant and the City’s Finance Department of the Board’s decision. Discussion re: LEOFFI Board Policy on Dental Coverage: The members agreed to discuss possible revisions to the LEOFF I Board Policies and Procedures regarding dental benefits and medical marijuana during the next regular meeting scheduled for October 7, 2014. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:08 a.m. until the next regularly scheduled meeting on October 7, 2014 or special meeting as properly noticed.
