Service Officers Association
MEETING MINUTES
May 5, 2004
Service Officers present: Delmer Sayer, VFW 7498; Pat Bowen, VFW 7498; Edward Brostrom,
VFW 10706; Peter Jewel, AL26 and Dick Wiltse, VFW 7014
Chairman Delmer Sayer called the meeting to order at the appointed time.
Approval of Minutes: Pat Bowen moved to approve the minutes of July 23, 2003
as submitted. Ed Brostrom seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.
Discussion re: 2004 Schedule: The number of Service Officers to share the duty
has decreased. It was agreed that when the Secretary receives a request for an appointment, she
will call to see which Service Officer is available on that day.
Officers for 2004-2005: It was moved and seconded to approve the following
slate of Executive Board Officers for 2004-2005:
Chairman Delmer Sayer
Vice Chair Pat Bowen
Secretary/Treasurer Peter Jewel
Board Member Ed Brostrom
Board Member Dick Wiltse
The vote on the motion was unanimous.
Service Officer to Represent VFW Post #7014 and VFW Post #3213: Dick
Wiltse agreed to represent Port Townsend VFW #7014 in the Service Officers Association until a
new Service Officer for their Post is appointed.
Ed Brostrom agreed to talk to the Quartermaster at VFW Post #3213 in Quilcene to see if they
have anyone who can represent them in the Service Officers Association. Delmer Sayer said
that he will also talk with him.
Revising the Application for the Funeral Benefit: The Service Officers agreed
that the original application used for rent, utilities, food, etc. can be simplified for the funeral
benefit because most of the information that is asked for isn't necessary. The Secretary agreed
to revise the application.
Office Supply Order: Pat Bowen moved to have the Secretary order up to $500 in
office supplies for the Commissioners' Office for administering the Veterans' Fund. Ed
Brostrom seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.
