Service Officers Association
MEETING MINUTES
May 20, 2011
Service Officers present: Delmer Sayer, VFW 7498; Robert "Alex" Alexander, VFW 3213; Bud Schindler,
VFW 10706; John Braasch, Service Officer at Large and Shannon Ames, American Legion 26. Others present:
Raina Randall, Clerk for the SOA, Andy Okinczyc and Karl Bach.
Chair Delmer Sayer called the meeting to order at 11:11 a.m.
Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the May 12, 2010 meeting were approved by unanimous vote.
Officers for 2011: Chair Sayer opened the nominations for 2011 Officers and the following members were
nominated: Delmer Sayer - Chairman; Dick Wiltse - Vice -Chairman; and Robert Alexander -
Secretary/Treasurer. Member Schindler moved to approve the nominations. Member Braasch seconded the
motion which carried by a unanimous vote. The following Service Officers Association (SOA) members
will serve as Executive Board Officers for 2011:
Chair: Delmer Sayer
Vice -Chair: Dick Wiltse
Secretary/Treasurer: Robert "Alex" Alexander
Appointment of Service Officer -at -Large, May 2011-2012: Member Sayer moved to appoint John
Braasch as Service Officer -at -Large. Member Schindler seconded the motion which carried by a
unanimous vote.
Discussion of Donation of Money from the American Legion: American Legion 26 Member Karl Bach
stated that the American Legion would like to donate $1,155.00 to the Veterans Assistance Program. The
American Legion does not have a system set up for proving assistance directly to veterans. The purpose
of this donation is to fill in gaps of assistance that currently are do not fall under what the Service Officers
Association is can provide assistance with. Member Sayer would like a meeting set up with
Commissioner Austin and David Alvarez, Prosecutor's Officer to inquire what the process should be.
Additional Business: Member Sayer stated he would be writing a letter asking the Jefferson County Board of
County Commissioners requesting a raise of the tax levy rate for the Veteran's Relief Fund.
MEETING ADJOURNED: The meeting was adjourned at 12:35 p.m.
