HomeMy WebLinkAbout071519_ca08JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners Philip Morley, County Administrator FROM: Julie Shannon, Executive Assistant 11 Jefferson County Commissioners Office DATE: July 15, 2019 SUBJECT: Letter of Assurance for Accessible Communities Act; Governor's Committee on Disability Issues and Employment (GCDE) STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Anna McEnery, Jefferson County Public Health staff member has requested that a Letter of Assurance be considered for approval for continued ACAC grant funding from the Governor's Committee on Disability Issues and Employment. Staff also requests approval of the ACAC membership list. The County received a grant of $54,003.31 which will be used to fund the following projects with the objective of improving awareness, inclusion and access for people with disabilities in our community. The following is a list of current ACAC projects: 1. ADA Access at Jefferson County Fairgrounds -New Sidewalk 2. ADA Access at Jefferson County Fairgrounds- Remove Threshold 3. YMCA -Literacy Program/Books about Kids w/Disabilities 4. ADA Accessible Main Doors at Tri -Area Community Center 5. ADA Accessible Main Doors at Quilcene Community Center 6. JUMP- Marketing Materials 7. DASH -Entertainment & Cultural Venues Guide 8. Co -sponsoring PT Film Festival Movie about Disability 9. Beach Wheelchair and Beach Walker- Marketing/Signs/Brochure FISCAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Letter of Assurance for Accessible Communities Act; Governor's Committee on Disability Issues and Employment (GCDE) and the ACAC membership list. The Jefferson County ACAC membership includes people volunteer or are a family member of a person with a disabi ACAC; Sarah Grossman, Carl Hanson, Colleen Faragher- Mandelbaum, Kim Rafferty, Pat Teal, Shirley Williams; Jot ourselves that membership includes people who are know programmatic, communication and physical barriers encoL who have a disability and/or work in the field, ity.
