Home My WebLink About20 1216 02 C,~'b;l ~ (we.., STATE OF WASHINGTON County of Jefferson In the Matter of the Establishment of a } "No Shooting" Zone In Coyle Area to Be Known } As the South Coyle Peninsula No Shooting Zone } ORDINANCE NO. 20-1216-02 WHEREAS, on July 27, 1995 Ordinance No. 03-0227-95 was adopted by Jefferson County which allows residents of specific, defined areas in the County to petition the Board of Commissioners to establish a "No Shooting" zone, and; WHEREAS, a petition was received from residents of the Coyle area located in voting Precincts 200 and 203 which were found to be sufficient, upon review by the County Auditor, for the purposes of establishing a "No Shooting" zone by this ordinance, and; WHEREAS, the Board held the required, and duly advertised, public hearing on December 9,2002 for the establishment ofthe area identified below as a "No Shooting" zone; and, WHEREAS, after reviewing the testimony, written and oral, presented at the public hearing, we make the following findings: 1. The discharge of firearms near developed residential areas in unincorporated Jefferson County presents a safety hazard to residents of the area. 2. The area identified as a "No Shooting" zone is well defined and the boundaries have been identified with the help of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office. 3. There was evidence presented that there have been problems in this area of Coyle with shots being fired at or near residences, and with people hunting very close to residences. 4. The majority of the area defined is privately owned property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, that the area described below is hereby established as a "No Shooting" zone as provided in Ordinance No. 03-0227-95. BOUNDARY DESCRIPTION: The No-shooting Area is encompassed by the following description: Beginning at the most easterly point on the centerline of East Go-onna Drive in the Southwest 14 of Section 27, Township 26 North, Range 1 West, Willamette Meridian; Said point being the Point of Beginning; Thence westerly along the centerline of said East Go-onna Drive to the intersection with the centerline of Coyle Road; Thence southerly and westerly along the centerline of Coyle Road to the intersection with the centerline of Zelatched Point Road; Thence northerly and westerly along the centerline of Zelatched Point Road to the intersection of said Zelatched Point Road with the south section line of Section 29, Township 26 North, Range 1 West; Willamette Meridian; Page 1 Ordinance No. 20-1216-02 re: South Coyle Peninsula No Shooting Zone Thence west along the south section line of said Section 29 to the intersection with the shoreline of Dabob Bay; Thence southerly along the easterly shoreline of Dabob Bay to the intersection of said shoreline with the shoreline of Hood Canal; Thence southerly and easterly along said shoreline of Hood Canal to the intersection of said shoreline with the mouth of Fisherman Harbor on the westerly side of said Harbor; Thence due East to the shoreline on the East side of the mouth of Fisherman Harbor; Thence easterly and northerly along the shoreline of Hood Canal to a point lying East of the Point of Beginning; Thence West to the Point of Beginning. Said property being portions of Sections 27,32,33 and 34 all in Township 26 North, Range 1 West, all of Section 35 Township 26 North, Range 1 West, all of Sections 2,3,4 and 5 all in Township 25 North, Range 1 West; Willamette Meridian.
