DRAFT MINUTES
The June 13, 2019 meeting of the Empowered Teens Coalition was held at the Chimacum High School Library from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: Report: Social Norms postcards mailed. Date for Drug Impairment Training for Educational Professionals set for Aug. 29. Decisions: Plan Training: Time, Location, Audience. TOPIC: Need an environmental strategy for new action plan July
2019-June 2020 (due June 30). IDEA: Legislative bill 1095: Schools must have policies to support student use of marijuana infused products for medical purposes. ACTION: Should we write/edit an existing policy to include this? RECRUITMENT: Should we hold a recruitment event? Coordinator attending PRIDE July 13th.

3:30 Denise Called meeting to order. 3:32 Denise Approved agenda & minutes: Greg moved, Ciela seconded. Motions carried.
3:35 Denise Report:
~Social norms postcards mailed. Ordered from Corvus Crafts LLC in Chimacum. Denise brought examples for members to post in agencies. ~Ciela reported on success of social norms campaign in the school.
Brought t-shirt to show us and plinko game board made by student for the event. Eleven students in prevention club. ~Date set for DITEP: August 29th, 2019. Discussed how to get on staff
calendar. Ciela to talk to Mr. Carthum, after which Denise and Greg will. Want to present possibility of continuing the conversation re. trauma informed care with teachers all using same language and approach. ~Decision made for environmental strategy for 2019-2020 Action Plan: School Policy re. medical marijuana use in school SHB 1095: Schools must have policies to support student use of marijuana infused products for medical purposes. Discussed Denise approaching Rick (superintendent) and school board to offer our assistance. Decided we’d have ad hoc workgroup meetings to work on policy after policy workgroup is formed. Tanya offered to be on workgroup.

~Discussed new meeting date: 1st, 3rd, or 4th Wednesday. Denise will send out Doodle Poll.
4:15 Denise, All Discussion re: Discussion of recruitment: mentioned we need school representation, religious/fraternal, medical. Will talk to Claudia at the library and Celeste (OCH director). Members present committed to recruiting from their sectors.
4:35 All Meeting adjourned. The Sept 11, 2019 meeting of the Empowered Teens Coalition will be held at the Chimacum
High School Library from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. There will be no Coalition Meetings in July and August.
The September meeting will be Wednesday, September 11th, 2019. ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG PREVENTION IS GOOD WORK.
