Planning Commissioners-
Thank you very much for accepting comments on shooting range laws .
I do support the Planning Commission's recommendations for regulations on shooting facilities.
Unfortunately the "Cedar Hill Recreational Facility" is a far cry from a "shooting facility".
I have been a Quilcene resident for 30 years. I am a retired volunteer firefighter/EMT, school board member, organic farmer, and continue
to be a mother/ grandmother and business owner here in South County. . The public, recreational Tarboo Lake, which feeds into the
Tarboo Creek watershed and salmon stream, has been used for generations for boating, fishing, swimming , picnicking which all would be
severely compromised, if not destroyed by this proposed facility. We must protect these rural public places.
As a firefighter we had several calls to Ft. Discovery, when it was operating, due to illegal activity. Burning, shooting, noise, aircraft activity,
explosions etc. It was not uncommon to get calls. I understand the Fire Departments have been alerted to possible stray bullets hitting cars
due to the clear cutting and proximity of 104, the proposed facility and distance the high powered bullets can travel. . The proposed
paramilitary training facility is a dangerous, noisy, polluting, private business.
The proposed paramilitary training complex at pristine, peaceful, public Tarboo Lake is completely incompatible with Jefferson County.
There are plenty of places already in existence for those who want such a facility. Including hundreds of thousands of acres used by the
military in that fashion .
We have one of the highest populations of veterans in our county. I was married to one for 28 years. Every one of them, that I have
spoken to, are traumatized even thinking about hearing helicopters, AR 15s and other paramilitary weaponry.
I collected over 200 signatures throughout the county and only a few people chose not to sign.
Please, let's use common sense and retain this area for the farms, fish, forest and families as it should be. Not bow to the pressures of a
select few who want to privatize our public recreational spaces.
Respectfully,
Kit Kittredge
