To All Concerned,
I remain in confusion how an ordinance regarding the establishment of commercial. shooting range
facilities that was modeled after a similar Kitsap County Ordinance and adheres to the Washington State
Guidelines could be deemed in violation of the SEPA Guidelines in Jefferson County when it has
previously been accepted as the rule of law in Kitsap County.
It is my personal belief that the cost prohibitive measures advocated by the Tarbo Ridge Coalition are in
no small measure an attempt to forgo and otherwise prohibit the lawful use of private property.
It would appear to this author that this issue is the expression of a "not in my backyard" mentality and
serves not the general welfare of the County but rather the special interests of the members of the
Tarbo Ridge Coalition. Unfortunately, adoption of the Tarbo Ridge Coalition demands will not stop in
their respective backyards but will affect all of Jefferson County ad infinitum.
I encourage the Jefferson County Planning Commission to recommend, without further modification,
the current guidelines as they presently exist.
