Subject: Proposed Tarboo Ridge Project and Title 8 & 18 of the Jefferson County Code
I am writing about the proposed paramilitary training facility at Tarboo Ridge. I own a 45
acre farm that sits within a two mile radius of this proposed facility. I have worked this
farm for ten years. I am a gun owner, sport shooter and former hunter.
I am opposed to this planned facility for three reasons. Safety and noise and the
potential for lead contamination are my objections to this proposed development. I
understand how big or should I say how small 45 acres is. In my opinion there is no way
that this proposed development can safely be sited on this property at Tarboo Ridge.
The noise from this proposed project will be horrific. The lead contamination near
salmon habitat will be a long lived nightmare.
Based on my knowledge of the residents of this community, I think most people do not
want this facility to be located at Tarboo Ridge.
If there is a genuine need for a large paramilitary training facility, let the county purchase
a suitable location for said facility. Be advised that you will need more than 45 acres for
such an endeavor.
Sincerely,
J. W. Holmes
