HomeMy WebLinkAbout32 OgleJCSA Meeting 11-5-2019 I am Carl Ogle, from Silverdale, member Kitsap Rifle and RevWW1R `lrCeVhtTDCD Jefferson County Sportsmen's Assn. Jefferson county adopted a range ordinance similar to Kitsap county using Kitsap county's playbook. The Kitsap ordinance has survived only because it has been tried in front of activist judges in Washington state who make decisions not based on the constitution but on whichever way the political winds are blowing. When the Kitsap case goes to federal court in front of a judge who knows the constitution things will change and most likely Jefferson county will feel the domino effect. It is frustrating but predictable we find ourselves back again because the Tarboo Ridge folks and perhaps some others did not get enough, and they never will. This agenda is not about the children, school or community safety, or any other warm fuzzy rhetoric. It's is being promoted by anti 2nd amendment zealots who don't like guns, don't like people who have guns and want gun ranges to go away. Property rights are part of this issue as well. There is no better place to practice with guns than a range like JCSA. The alternative is to go out and shoot in the woods, an idea actually suggested at a Kitsap county Commissioners meeting by a Kitsap official. Now I understand local law enforcement may not be able to shoot in Jefferson County. These actions place an unnecessary financial burden on taxpayers to satisfy the complaints of a few. The primary responsibility of elected officials is to protect the rights of all citizens. To the members of the JCSA get politically active make sure county officials are doing their jobs, hold them accountable. If they aren't find constitutionally conservatives who will. Do a real background check on candidates, find out everything you can about them. That is what I am doing in Kitsap county. To those who don't like gun ranges there are 2 choices, live with it or relocate. C :-
