With help from Peter Bahls of Northwest Watershed Institute, we donated 5.5 acres of our land on both sides of Tarboo Creek to the Jefferson County Land Trust. We continue to pay full taxes on the donated land. A huge, lawless, paramilitary training center on the shores of Tarboo Lake would surely pollute the lake and the creek. We now have beavers and spawning salmon in the creek. The noise pollution alone would destroy our quiet retirement and way of life here 1.5 miles from Tarboo Lake. We would be forced to find another place to live; we are both in our 70s. Please follow the outlines of the Kitsap County plan for gun ranges as recommended by the Tarboo Ridge Coalition. Sincerely, Michael A. Larger units would also conflict with small scale. Defines small-scale. Reduce impacts on neighbors (noise and traffic). Consistent with recreational and tourist use as these populations don't shoot at ni At. Solves all of the problems---cnvironmc:ntal and safety—and can belocated closer L population centers. Work. with WA congressional delegation for funding, and/or BoCC re a bond issue? Not tourist not recreational Machine guns, mortars, rocket launchers etc. are not recreational or tourist. Our intent IS t0 S Tt llilI1L111 and stitall^scale shooting s orfs. This supports the small-scale criterion and protects neighboring businesses and residences. A named decibel level works better than design criteria, as noise impacts vary with vegetation and topography. 35db is the hum of a refrigerator— it's noticeable but does not impede enjoyment or activity. Prevent lead or copper pollution in waterways; protect integrity of public recreation areas for enjoyment by non -shooters; protect wildlife; protect against threat of stray bullets
