Jefferson County Planning Commission
Dear Board Members,
I am a resident of Jefferson County (12 years). A er having a ended the mee ng at Chimacum High School on November
05, 2019, I would like to express my concern that the Jefferson County issue with the shoo ng range ordinances will not be
resolved without a reset. In my opinion, the goals and the demands of the Tarboo Ridge Coali on (TRC) remain at odds with
the majority of County residents. The requirements that have been suggested by the TRC would eventually prove a financial
burden sufficient to bankrupt the future development or existence of any and all shoo ng ranges within Jefferson County.
To date, the financial burden for resolu on of this dilemma has been on the County taxpayer at large. Whatever ordinances
will be adopted to Titles 8 and 18, the future will no doubt see addi onal legal ac on, any or all of which may persist in the
courts for years. These costs will also be at the property taxpayer ’s expense.
It would best serve the residents of Jefferson County to dra legisla on that represents the unique character and individual
needs of Jefferson County and not a copy cat of the more densely populated Kitsap County ordinances.
To this end, please take courage and make the right decision for Jefferson County.
Respec ully Submi ed,
Barbara M. Walker
