HomeMy WebLinkAbout20190827_PT ETC Meeting MinutesPort Townsend Empowered Teens Coalition Meeting Agenda August 27th 3:00-4:00pm Jefferson County Public Health Pacific Room Purpose of meeting: Updates from Coalition members, Discuss Action Plan updates, plan; Positive Social Norms campaign, Leadership Team decisions, plan for meetings for 2019/2020 school year Facilitator for this meeting: Lindsay Scalf Attendees: Emelia De Souza, Al Scalf, Anne Dean, Denise Banker Time Activity 3:00 Call meeting to order 3:05 Updates on CPWI Coordinator activities  Quilcene Vaping Lessons- May 31 Karen, Denise, and Lindsay provided vaping education to all Quilcene students grades 6-11  DBHR Site Visit- June 5 Rose Quinby spent time reviewing our plans for programs  Leadership Institute- June 17-21 three days of orientation on CPWI and information on positive framing, the boiling over metaphor, and coalition facilitation techniques  Montana Summer Institute- June 24-28 Positive Community Norms  Pride Jefferson County- June 29 Denise represented Chimacum and PT Empowered Teens Coalitions at the annual Pride celebration  Hadlock Block Party- August 3 Denise and Lindsay walked in the parade, announcer read the description of the coalition, hosted a booth and talked to many families and met a school board candidate  Opioid Summit- August 7-8 Regional Opioid Response for Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska  All County Picnic- August 18 Denise and Lindsay hosted a booth  Positive Social Norms Campaign- ongoing, Lo Lo and Lindsay working on setting up a focus group to test messages Upcoming  Drug Impairment Education- August 28 8am-12pm at Chimacum School Auditorium, August 29 9am-1pm at Jefferson County Library  ACE’s and Resilience Leadership Development Program in Wenatchee, WA September 18-21, Lindsay and Denise to participate in the first cohort of this Department of Health designed program to develop resilience in our community.  Guiding Good Choices- parenting program in PT every Wednesday in October from 6-8pm  Drug Take Back Day October 26 at Safeway in PT and QFC in Port Hadlock Updates from different sectors Rainbow Center (teen center for Queer Youth in PT) is funded for a few months, and is set to have a kick off event on September 18. Center will be open 1 Monday per week to start, launching the first Monday of October. Empowered Teens Center will participate by providing resources and participating in tabling at the center. Emelia offered to strategize on hosting another LGBTQ 101 training that could be attended by both Chimacum and PT Coalition, Guardians Ad Litem, and others using Jefferson Healthcare for a location. Potential for doing it the first Thursday in October. Coalition staff to follow up. 3:25 Discuss Strategic Plan updates- approved on June 26th! Now the implementation phase begins 3:30 Positive Social Norms- brief presentation, plan, see slides attached to email 3:45 Discuss timeline for Leadership Team decisions- Denise discussed role of leadership team, commitment (no more than usual attendance of meetings with opportunity to facilitate and guide strategic planning/evaluation), and reasonable expectations.
