representation

Location change
Student Assistance Professional position at PTHS is going to be left unfilled, so due to Tasha’s
Student Assistance Professional presence at BHM we will host meetings at Blue Heron in the
future.
Guiding Good Choices
Merged with Chimacum due to low enrollment (one parent from PT), every Tuesday in October.
Will address recruitment strategies to boost enrollment for April program.
Science and Sips lecture series October 24 4:30-6:30pm at Port Townsend Vineyards
Washington State Teachers Association sponsored event
Presentation on prevention science and the coalitions in Jefferson County
Drug Take Back- October 26 10am-2pm at Safeway in Port Townsend
Lindsay and Troy tabling at Safeway
Prevention Summit- November 3-6
Denise and Lindsay in Yakima for annual Prevention Summit
Survey collection
Tabling at the food bank tomorrow Wednesday 10/23, and at Jefferson County library and Tri
Area Food Bank in November
55 surveys collected so far in Port Townsend (via link and also hand entered copies from tabling
events), need to get to 180 total by December 15
Nurse Family Partnership
Passed out flyer, discussed program the Coalition funds.
NFP is a Prenatal and infancy home visitation program aimed at improving the health, wellbeing,
and self-sufficiency of low-income first time parents and their children.
Addresses Goal 5 of Action plan: Reduce community disorganization, increase attitudes of family
management practices including monitoring, discipline, setting limits, control

Updates from Coalition
Vaping Education/discussion
Coordinating times at Blue Heron to repeat health fair style education about vaping prevention
with adaptations for students in grades who have already gone through the program. Lindsay
and Julie and Tasha to follow up on ways to integrate into classrooms more, and how to
proceed with designing and scheduling the program.

12 sectors- religious/fraternal, youth, parent, media, state/local/tribal government, healthcare
professional, youth serving organizations, other organizations involved in reducing substance abuse,
civic/volunteer organization, school, business, law enforcement
Discussion:
Ideally each meeting would have 9 of the 12 sectors represented.
How to recruit representatives from faith based organizations, business, 4-H, Girl Scouts?
How to recruit youth presence on coalition, now that meetings are less convenient for PTHS students?
