Share air time and encourage all members to participate DRAFT MINUTES The October 16, 2019 meeting of the Empowered Teens Coalition was held at the Jefferson County Library, Shold Room from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: Introduce: Martha Williams and Sophia Hilsen from Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery. Report: PTFF, GGC, Drug Take Back, School Board Meeting, Citizen’s Advisory Board, CHIP assessment data meeting dates. Action: Complete Coalition Assessment tool. Discussion: Positive Messaging Brainstorm poster activity do be completed at November 20th meeting. Facilitators for this meeting: Denise Banker In attendance: Chris HoffmanHill, Micah Knox, Ciela Meyer, Greg Brotherton, Lindsay Scalf, Martha Williams, Joe Nole, Al Scalf, Sarah Rogers, Sophia Hilsen, Tessie Ottoway-Chung. Time/Facilitator Activity 3:30 Denise Called meeting to order. 3:32 Denise Approved agenda & minutes: With one correction (location of meeting) Greg moved, Micah and Ciela seconded. Motions carried. 3:35 Denise Report: ~Introductions: we introduced ourselves as guests attended. ~New member, Tessie Ottoway-Chung, introduced herself. ~Commissioner Brotherton reported on success of PTFF and suggested we take the 24 tickets next year. Chris HoffmanHill reminded us the library hosts the films as well. Ciela and Denise mentioned films at JHS Auditorium; report on how well Guiding Good Choices is going; discussed Drug Take Back event preparations, reported on school board meeting and handed out information on Ready For Kindergarten; Sheriff Nole explained the Citizen’s Advisory Board; Announced CHIP Community Assessment data share meeting dates, handout. Handed out information regarding heating fuel assistance. ~Coalition completed the Coalition Assessment Tool Survey. ~Dates for collecting surveys at Food Banks set. 4:20 All Discussion: We continued our discussion of healthy youth survey data, and youth marijuana use, which segued into our final activity. We didn’t have time to begin the positive social norms activity so postponed it until November.
