WHEREAS,the official County Road Log lists the length of Owl Creek Road(County Road#137909)
as 1.59 miles; and
WHEREAS,Maple Creek Road(County Road#135109)between milepost 1.28 and 1.79 is essentially
an extension of the Owl Creek Road; and
WHEREAS, transferring this segment of Maple Creek Road to Owl Creek Road in the Road Log will
not result in any changes to what is currently maintained by the County; and
WHEREAS, historically the segment of Maple Creek Road from mile post 1.28 to 1.79 has been
known by local property owners as Owl Creek Road and property addressing uses the Owl Creek
road name already; and
WHEREAS,it is in the best interest of the County to update the official County Road Log to maintain
accurate records to avoid confusion in the future;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the official County Road Log shall be adjusted to show
that Owl Creek Road ends at milepost 2.10 and that this segment is no longer part of Maple Creek
Road.

Subject: A Resolution to Update the Official County Road Log for
Owl Creek Rd., County Road #137909
Statement of Issue:
The Board is asked to sign a resolution to update the Official County Road Log by updating the
length of Owl Creek Road from 1.59 mites to 2.10 miles. This additional segment is a
correction to the road log. This segment of road is currently maintained as Maple Creek Rd
milepost 1.28 to 1.79. This adjustment to the road log will remove this segment of road from
Maple Creek Road and add it to Owl Creek Road, which is already recognized by addressing of
the one residence located off this segment of road. This action does not remove county
maintenance but transfers it from Maple Creek Road to Owl Creek Road.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's £t Con's:
Making corrections to keep the Official County Road Log current helps to avoid maintenance
confusion. This action will not add or remove overall length from the Road Log. It merely
moves a segment from one road to another on paper.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
The motor vehicle fuel tax distribution formula is based in part on the miles of roads listed in
the Official County Road Log; therefore, it is important to keep the Road Log accurate and up
to date.
Recommendation:
Department of Public Works recommends that the Board approve updating the Official County
Road Log length of Owl Creek Road by signing the attached Resolution.
