SUBJECT: Request to appoint Linda Saunders to serve a 4-year term on the
Conservation Futures Citizen Oversight Committee.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Public Health requests that the County Commissioners appoint Linda Saunders to the Conservation
Futures Citizen Oversight(CF)Committee to serve a 4-year term to represent the interest, "Culture and
History".
ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO'S and CON'S:
Three open interest seat vacancies on the CF Committee were advertised in the The Leader on December
24th,2019. Ms. Saunders responded to the ad prior to the January 2211d, 2020 deadline along with a total of
two other candidates who were both reappointed on March 2nd. On February 28th, staff to the CF
Committee and two committee members interviewed Ms. Saunders in person.
For over 15 years,Ms. Saunders has resided in Quilcene,having relocated from Bainbridge Island. For
more than 25 years, she's worked in federal and state government and as a self-employed forensic CPA
and Fraud Examiner. Ms. Saunders holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration, is a trained Master
Gardner, and is active in community projects such as restoration of the Worthington Mansion and
Museum. She has an abiding interest in Native American culture and the history of Jefferson County.
The interview committee recommends her highly to serve a four-year term on the CF Committee in the
seat formerly occupied by Ray Hunter.Ms. Saunders brings an exceptional legal and administrative
background and looks forward to expanding her knowledge of open space protection in the County.
FISCAL IMPACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
There is no fiscal impact to the county's General Fund for reappointing Ms. Saunders to a first 4-year term
on the CF Committee.
