HomeMy WebLinkAbout20200807_D Wilson_COVIDFrom:Dale Wilson To:Board of Health Subject:Testing Covid 19 Date:Friday, August 7, 2020 10:47:43 AM CAUTION: This email originated from outside your organization. Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. First thank each of you for your service to the people of Jefferson County. I am growing increasingly concerned that Jefferson Public Health’s data / media and that of WADOH are becoming increasing unreliable. 1. JDOH reports testing is readily available, especially for those with symptoms and high risk populations. This appears to be false. As I had to take my spouse to a medical appointment in Spokane, our pet/house sitter, a 26 year old, called and notified us she has mild symptoms. I asked her to seek a test as both my spouse and I are high risk. She agreed, but was told by JDOH not to worry, no test was needed. They would call her back in a few days. So, the messaging that tests are “readily” available for symptomatic or high risk populations is either wrong or being misstated. 2. WADOH data v JDOH data have huge gaps in reporting of JeffCo numbers. Particular to this comment are...The number of test performed. JDOH indicates over 5000 tests. The WADOH was, as of a few days ago reporting 1500 test in JeffCo. JDOH has, along with the state been stressing Certain businesses like alcohol service as super high risk. That on its face makes sense, But the WADOH’s recent report on transmission outbreaks by business type indicates that sector to be among the lowest in the state. These types of confusing and inaccuracies are not helping. After seven months I would hope that the data and info would be improving, not getting less reliable. These are just my thoughts. These are not personal judgments. I absolutely appreciate all your efforts and wish you all the best during these difficult times. Sincerely, Dale Wilson Port Ludlow Sent from my iPhone
