This Revision 3 set responds to specific changes to the original permit drawings, dated 06/03/2020. The
changes are in response to comments from Michael J. Barth, Building Code Consultant at Code Pros, LLC.
on September 29th, 2020.
Plan Review Comments have been addressed in narrative form below and annotated with revision
clouds, as Revision 3 (09/30/2020), on the applicable sheets in the permit drawing set.
NARRATIVE RESPONSES TO PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS
Non‐Structural:
7. 9/11/2020 Plan Review Comment: A2.1, A2.2. While it is assumed that doors with glazing,
and associated sidelights such as 101B, 101C, 201B, etc. will be provided with tempered safety
glazing in accordance with the requirements of IRC Section R308, windows within 24 inches of
operable doors (such as 21T and 21J, if adjacent to the operable parts of 201A and 201C
respectively) also may require safety glazing. Please clarify. Similarly, windows around the
master bathroom tub, 27A and 27D must also be provided with tempered safety glazing in
accordance with IRC Section R308.4. The window schedule on Sheet A2.2 does not identify any
safety glazing. Please identify all glazing that is proposed to be tempered indicating satisfaction
of IRC R308 requirements.
9/15/2020 Question 7 Response: To clarify the drawing set and respond to this
comment, the Door Types Legend on A2.1 and Window Schedule on A2.2 have been
annotated to include the note of tempered safety glazing, where applicable.
9/29/2020 Plan Review Comment: Thank you for the corrections for tempered safety
glazing. My apologies that the original comment used examples instead of a comprehensive list
of all glazing that required tempered safety glazing. In addition to those shown, In accordance
with IRC Sections R308.4.3 and R308.4.6, windows 21E, 21F, and 21G also require tempered
safety glazing for 1, being over 9 square feet in area and less than 18 inches above the floor, and

2, for being less than 36 inches above the exterior stairway. Please clarify that IRC R308.4
requirements will be satisfied for these additional windows.
9/30/2020 Question 7 Response: Corrections have been made to the window schedule so that
all glazing, where code required, has been identified to be tempered safety glazing. Windows
21E, 21F, and 21G, although higher than 36 inches above the exterior stairway, were greater
than 9 square feet in area and less than 18 inches above the floor which require them to be
tempered. This change has been made in the schedule. In addition, windows 21H, 21J
(previously noted), 25B and 27C have been annotated to have tempered safety glazing as they
exceed 9 square feet in area.
