Narrative: This prioritized list was a joint effort of this committee for expenditures that would benefit all of those events represented through this task force. It exemplifies a coordinated effort between the various for- and non-profit organizations in re-establishing events in an era of Covid 19. Allowing these long-standing special events to reopen safely will ensure the culture of Port Townsend remains intact. The concept is these investments can be used by multiple parties throughout the year rather than scrambling to rent or purchase independently for each venue and every special event. It would grant the public confidence in attending safe and healthy events. This list would allow venues to provide portable restrooms, hand washing stations/touchless hand sanitizers, PPE supplies. Having the ability to purchase a semi-permanent tent provides for a large outdoor venue for use by multiple organizations hosted at Fort Worden (including potential classroom space). A 90’ x 90’ tent would be purchased for $48k* available for use by the various city and county organizations needing space to hold their event. * There is a matching grant through the Murdoch Foundation that would allow the purchase of 2 tents. Research is underway for the possibility of second tent in downtown core. Stage and sound equipment. This would greatly assist organizations that have been financial impacted by Covid and need a lower cost venue to help kick start their event season. The return of our beloved special events safely in an outdoor venue will have a huge economic ripple effect on all our businesses throughout the county; assist local businesses; hotels, restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores and shops that are currently impacted by Covid 19. We have even considered local business repercussions in that should we get the portable restroom trailer, we would contract out with Goodman for service, so we are not taking away business during the special events. This estimated cost for this is as follows: Item Cost 4 Hand washing station/ 4 touchless hand sanitizer $5,952 1 Public restroom trailer $55,000 Item Cost 1 Tent 90’ x 90’ $48,000 PPE Supplies $10,000 1 Stage $23,650 Total $142,602
