MINUTES
Jefferson County Board of Commissioners
Special Meeting — Friday, September 4, 2020, 3:30 p.m.
Jefferson County Courthouse— Commissioners' Chambers
1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Greg Brotherton, Commissioner David Sullivan and
Commissioner Kate Dean participated in the meeting remotely. Chair Brotherton called the meeting to
order at the appointed time.
DISCUSSION re: Authorization and Funds Commitment for the Economic
Development Administration FY19 Disaster Supplemental Grant for the Port Hadlock UGA
Sewer Project: Commissioner Dean explained that grant matching funds had been approved at the last
Board of County Commissioners' Special Meeting on August 31, 2020, but she was told by those
assisting with the grant process, that if the County raised their matching funds to $3.28 Million, the
County would have a much better chance of obtaining the $13,097,000 grant for the Port Hadlock UGA
Sewer Project. She worked with Central Services Director Mark McCauley who stated the County could
indeed raise their match by the amount suggested. Public Works Director/County Engineer Monte
Reinders was in attendance and offered support of the project.
After discussion, Commissioner Dean moved to approve RESOLUTION NO. 58-20 re: Authorizing
and funds commitment for EDA Fiscal Year 2019 supplemental grant for the Port Hadlock UGA Sewer
Project. Commissioner Sullivan seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. The approved
resolution repeals and replaces Resolution No. 56-20.
NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT: Chair Brotherton adjourned the meeting at 3:44 p.m.
until the next regular meeting or special meeting as properly noticed.
