Dear Board of Health and Karen;
I am the director of a locally grown and caregiver-owned home care agency here in Port Townsend.
We take care of the elderly in their homes. For obvious reasons, in-home care is an important
service to be offering our community elders at this time. During phase 1 of covid-19, we did not take
any new clients or hire new caregivers in order to keep our current staff and clients safe. However,
the need for in-home care is increasing and we need to hire new staff to keep up with the demands
of our community. The obvious and right thing to do would be to get our new hires tested before
sending them into the homes of vulnerable seniors. However, as you know, we can not be tested in
our county without symptoms. I am hoping to bring our dilemma to the attention of Dr. Locke and
the county commissioners. I would be happy to speak my concerns at the next meeting.
Thank You,
Kippi Waters
